Set on 22 acres in picturesque Exeter, Rhode Island, the Exeter Job Corps Academy’s state-of-the-art academic and career technical training facility opened its doors to New England’s youth in 2004. The Exeter Job Corps Academy annually serves 450 students in its beautiful south-central rural location, just 20 minutes from downtown Providence and 15 minutes from historic Newport. The Exeter Academy maintains outstanding partnerships and working relationships with business, educational and community leaders throughout the State of Rhode Island.

Job Corps is America’s leading career technical skills training and education program for youth ages 16 through 24. The Exeter Job Corps Academy offers southern New England’s youth the opportunity to achieve a high school diploma or a GED, learn a career technical trade of their choice, and placement with one of the region’s dynamic employers, enrollment into higher education, or enlistment with the armed forces.

The Academy provides a full range of services to students including: residential dorms, outstanding food services, academic and vocational skills training, recreational programs, career and social skills counseling and medical care. Students can remain in Job Corps up to two years and can learn at their own pace in this open entry-open exit program. As part of the comprehensive curriculum, Exeter students learn the importance of “giving back” to the local community through a series of community service activities to include projects at Habitat for Humanity, the RI Veterans Cemetery, and other local organizations.

Recreational and leadership opportunities include: Arts & Crafts, Billiards, student government, dorm and recreation leaders, clubs, movies and male/female athletic teams (basketball, volleyball, flag football, softball) and off-campus recreation trips (movies, shopping, college and pro sports events, plays, museums, festivals, carnivals, amusement parks, dance lessons).

The Exeter campus features a three wing, 200-bed dormitory with satellite TV, fireplace, and 6 computer study rooms. Exeter’s student union building features cardio and weight rooms, a computer study/library, an air conditioned gymnasium, a full-service cafeteria and a 300-seat auditorium with an 18-foot movie projection screen and sound system with satellite TV.
