The Little Rock Job Corps Center, the nation’s newest and state-of-the-art facility is located in the heart of Southwest Little Rock on 21 beautiful acres, providing a much better learning environment for students previously residing in an 8 story building on one city block! The serene setting is comprised of 9 buildings, including a recreation building containing a full gymnasium, stadium style seating theater, weight room, aerobics room, and the well-stocked student store. In addition to the well landscaped campus, the area is close to a myriad of Work-Based Learning and volunteer opportunities. The Center will provide training to approximately 600 students from across Arkansas each year, preparing these students for demand driven jobs throughout the state.

Students reside in two beautiful new dormitories, common areas equipped with wide screen televisions and computers for utilization after the training/work day is complete. The spacious rooms have built in closets, desks, under bed storage, bathing and dressing areas. Resident Advisors and Counselors have offices on each dormitory for immediate access to students.

The Cafeteria has been designed to be multi-functional, providing additional space for after-hours parties, meetings, and Student Government Association functions.

The Little Rock area provides plenty of off-campus recreational activities as well. In addition to the Arkansas Travelers Minor League Baseball games played at the new Dickey-Stephens Park, there are concerts and sports events at Verizon Arena year round. The Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department sponsors activities the entire year that enable students to join in team or individual sports. The recently dedicated Pedestrian Bridge in Downtown Little Rock’s River Market District completes a 20 mile hiking/biking/walking trail around Little Rock and North Little Rock. The Big Dam Bridge at the West End of the route provides a beautiful view over the Arkansas River at Murray Lock and Dam, with sunsets that defy description. The trail winds through Burns Park, along the Arkansas River in North Little Rock, one of the nation’s largest community parks consisting of 1,300 acres.

The Clinton Library, Museum of Discovery, Old State House Museum, MacArthur Military Museum, Arkansas Territorial Restoration Museum, Arkansas Maritime Museum, Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, and Heifer International all provide students with glimpses into the past history of Arkansas and its’ citizens. And that doesn’t include any of the incredible attractions that are less than an hour’s drive from Little Rock!

Student volunteer opportunities include the Arkansas Rice Depot, Arkansas Foodbank Network, Gifts-in-Kind of Arkansas, The Watershed Human Development Agency, The Hope Center, Lions World International, United Way of Central Arkansas, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, plus numerous faith-based and community organizations.

As a student, you will enjoy your time on the Center learning career and employability skills that will take you to new opportunities in your life.
