The IndyPendence Job Corps Center is located in downtown Indianapolis in the historic Wulsin Building. The IndyPendence Center serves 100 non-residential female students. It offers vocational training in 2 trades, a GED program, high school diploma program and certification/degree programs through Ivy Tech Community College. All of the students are from Indianapolis.
The IndyPendence Center is within walking distance of the Monument Circle/Sailor Soldier Monument. It is the satellite Center of the Atterbury Job Corps Center. Being in the city gives IndyPendence students an opportunity to interact with local businesses, government agencies and nearby colleges such as Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis, often leading to full-time job offers or higher education enrollment.
Students can participate in job site visits, the Student Government Association, peer leadership classes and various student clubs. They engage in community service such as donation projects for the Salvation Army.
