The Miami Job Corps Center is located in Miami Gardens, FL, approximately 20 minutes from Miami proper. The Center serves 160 residential students and 77 non-residential students. It offers vocational training in 7 trades, multiple high school diploma programs, a high school equivalency program and college certification/degree programs through Miami Dade College. Approximately 60% of students are from the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area, with the remainder from other parts of Florida.
The Miami Center opened in 1983 and sits on 18 acres, just 7 minutes from Hard Rock Stadium, where the Miami Dolphins play. The Center is located in a residential community within walking distance of movie theaters, restaurants and shopping centers.
Students can participate in the Student Government Association, peer leadership classes, seasonal sports teams and various student clubs such as the Walking Club. They also enjoy educational field trips, job site visits and offsite recreational activities.
Students are active members of the South Florida community and provide community service to various organizations and local events such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Camillus House, Habitat for Humanity, Hands on Broward and The United Way.
