Students from the St. Lois Job Corps Center invited 11 local police officers from St. Louis City, St. Louis County and local community police departments to attend a Chat and Chew on Sept. 19. The students talked with the police officers about their careers and how to effectively communicate and relate to local youth. The Center hopes to improve relations between the community and the local police.
Students first reached out to police and emergency personnel in the City of Ferguson a month ago by bringing them cookies. This month the students invited them into their Center home.
The students and police had such a good time that they would like to meet monthly to further build stronger relations and understanding.
