SL_wintergrad2017aSeventy-nine of the 97 students who completed their program at the St. Louis Job Corps Center took their ceremonial graduation walk on Feb. 17.

Dana Corbin, an Office Administration student, was the valedictorian, while Cornell McKay, a Painting student, was recognized as the Salutatorian. The entire staff and student body attended the ceremony, along with parents and guests of the graduates. Many graduates are already employed in their fields working in construction, security, business, hotels and restaurants, local hospitals and in the railroads, trucking, barge, and transportation industry.

Robert (Bob) Lee, Functional Leader of the St. Louis County American Job Center, was the keynote commencement speaker.

It is always a joy to see these young people seek a career, take the training and move on into successful and productive careers. Most of the recent St. Louis graduates have wanted to stay in the region, but several have moved on to jobs on the East Coast, West Coast and the Gulf Coast.
