TI_destinymLifeLine Methadone Clinic in Oakland founds its “Destiny” in the form of Treasure Island Job Corps student Destiny Martinez.

Destiny is LifeLine’s new medical assistant and could not be happier.  At first, Destiny struggled to find an internship that would fit with her work and childcare schedule. Several clinics accepted her, but none could accommodate her schedule.

Destiny was frustrated and ready to throw her hands up when a LifeLine Site Supervisor called and asked for an intern. The hours 6AM to 3PM fit into Destiny’s schedule, but the clinic is in Oakland and Destiny lives in Antioch.

“I don’t care about the commute,” Destiny said about the distance. “It will be early enough that I will miss traffic, and I really just want to complete an extern and start working.”

Five weeks later, LifeLine asked to hire Destiny. She officially started on Oct. 23 with a huge smile and bright future.
