MI_officeraustinMiami Job Corps Center partner, Miami Gardens Police Department, put a different spin on community relations when Officer Carlos Austin (pictured here) presented to students Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) basic training.

CERT is a FEMA program that educates volunteers on disaster preparedness, including fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations. Security students ventured to St. Thomas University to receive the 21-hour training with Officer Austin. He said all participants performed excellently.

Officer Austin is a valued member of Miami’s Community Relations Council.
