Chapman spoke with students about the voting process and how elected officials get nominated to run for office. All students who attended the event volunteered to help others register to vote in Albany County. Ms. Chapman engaged in role play activities with the students, where they took turns being voter and unregistered voter and emphasizing the importance of voting and citizenship.
Even the students who were unsure whether voting mattered were inspired by meeting Ms. Chapman to become engage in the Albany County community. Ms. Chapman even treated the attendees to pizza after the event.
Glenmont will hold workshops with students to express the importance of voting and register all eligible students to vote.
