The students competed with 42 New England restaurants on October 18, pitting their pastries against the best of the area before an attendance of 750 people. The students presented 1,000 pieces of individual cakes such as Oreo cheesecake with strawberry sauce, baklava cheesecake with caramel sauce, chocolate raspberry hazelnut with raspberry sauce, Lemon Charlotte with lemon sauce, apple tart with caramel sauce, Heath Bar cheesecake with a crem en glaze, and strawberry parfait.
As a result, students Ruben Ortiz, Anne Jacobs, Alex Hird, Olivia Urisini, Kira Panton and their Instructor Chef Mark Bennison received the coveted prize on April 8. The award was presented by Elizabeth Berman, Chamber Executive Director.
This was Exeter’s second showing at the event. Everyone loved the treats and praised the presentation. Many asked if Exeter would return to compete again in 2019.
This is a huge honor for Advanced Culinary Arts Team at Exeter. The Center has displayed the award in its culinary cafe to demonstrate its pride in the staff and students involved.
