Students shared how they or someone they know has been able to overcome mental health challenges. They decorated the shirts with different colored arrows to represent the variety of mental health disorders. The arrow represented growth and perseverance, as an “arrow needs to be drawn back in order to be shot forward.”
Mental health is often stigmatized in society, resulting in a lack of discussion on the subject. Events such as these help to end the stigma by raising awareness on how common mental disorders are, and to start the discussion on the importance of maintaining your own mental health. Some experiences shared by the student body during this event included: depression, anxiety, ADHD/ADD, DID and PTSD.
New Hampshire thanks everyone who came to show support for those who are struggling or know someone who is struggling every day with mental health challenges.
