Students received a tour of the facility and learned all about maple farms. They observed more than 1,000 tapped maple trees being sapped of their syrupy goodness. They witnessed how the gravity and vacuum system were applied to each tree to pull the sap down to their facility. What many found the most fascinating was that the facility was entirely ran on solar panels, which reminded students about Glenmont’s Advanced Training Solar program.
After a complete tour and explanation on the processes of tree tapping, the group got to enjoy the best part — tasting the variety of syrups. They also sampled delicious cotton candy made with the fresh maple sugar. What a sweet reward!
