The Delaware Valley Job Corps Center is located in Callicoon, New York, surrounded by New York’s famous Catskill Mountains and within a 2-hour drive of New York City. Delaware Valley houses 315 residential students. It offers vocational training in 9 trades, a GED program, high school diploma programs and college certification/degree programs through SUNY Sullivan. Most students come from New York, with the majority coming from New York City’s five boroughs. A smaller portion come from Newburgh, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, New Jersey and the Virgin Islands.
Delaware Valley was built on the site of a former seminary and sits on a 25-acre campus. It offers a stunning view of the Delaware River Valley and the surrounding Catskill Mountains. The Delaware Valley Center is one of the largest employers in Sullivan County.
Students can participate in the Student Government Association, peer leadership classes, seasonal sports teams and various student clubs. They also enjoy educational field trips, job site visits and offsite recreational activities such as visits to the Bethel Woods Center for the Performing Arts, movies, hiking in the Upper Delaware Valley River Scenic and Recreational River National Park and tubing/sledding in the winter. Onsite recreational offerings include a workout and weight room, arts & crafts and a media room.
As part of their community service, students unload food trucks for the Federation for the Homeless in Monticello, build booths and signs for Callicoon Business Association events and volunteer with the Delaware Valley Youth Center.
