The Exeter Job Corps Center is located in Exeter, RI, just a short drive from Providence. The Exeter Center houses 175 residential students and 10 non-residential students. It offers vocational training in 6 trades, a GED program and 2 high school diploma programs. Exeter also offers an Advanced Culinary Arts program. Most participants are from Rhode Island or neighboring states.
The Exeter Center sits on 23 acres on the old Ladd School site and is within close proximity to the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery. It is within 5 miles of the University of Rhode Island and walking distance of the Rhode Island Public Transit system. It has built a solid reputation in Rhode Island for community service and professional presence. The Exeter Center is recognized by state and local elected officials for excellent student graduation success rates.
Students can participate in the Student Government Association, peer leadership classes, seasonal sports teams and various student clubs. They also enjoy educational field trips, job site visits and offsite recreational activities such as beach trips, hiking, laser tag, paintball, rock climbing and nature walks. Onsite recreational offerings include a workout and weight room, arts & crafts, and a recreation room will billiards and ping pong tables.
Students volunteer their time at the Wakefield Rotary Club, Rhode Island Lifespan Hospitals, the Rhode Island Veterans Administration, Town of Exeter, the Ronald McDonald House, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Rhode Island State Fire Training Institute.
