The Grafton Job Corps Center is located in North Grafton, MA, approximately 5 miles from Worcester, MA. Grafton serves 206 residential students and 31 non-residential participants. It offers vocational training in 9 trades, a GED program and an online high school diploma program. The Grafton Center also offers an Advanced Human Service Worker program. The majority of students come from the cities of Worcester and Boston.
The Grafton Center sits on 48 acres and is housed on what was once the Grafton State Hospital. Nearby the Center are the Tufts Veterinary School, several state agencies and the former hospital’s graveyard, which is annually cleaned by Grafton students. Grafton’s proximity to the City of Worcester and the MBTA station makes it accessible to bus services to all major cities in New England.
Students can participate in the Student Government Association, peer leadership classes, seasonal sports teams and various student clubs. They enjoy educational field trips, job site visits and offsite recreational activities such as beach, movie, museum, sports, shopping and bank trips. Onsite recreational offerings include a physical fitness gym, dance room, student store, library, media room and a reaction room with billiards, table tennis and foosball.
Students are active members of the Worcester County community and provide community service such as event assistance at neighboring Tufts University and Grafton Senior Center, as well as citywide events in Worcester.
