The Treasure Island Job Corps Center is located on Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay. Treasure Island houses 493 residential students and 40 non-residential students. It offers vocational training in 12 trades, a GED program, an online high school diploma program and college certification/degree programs through the Peralta Community College District and San Francisco City Colleges. Treasure Island also offers the largest Advanced Culinary Arts program in Job Corps. The majority of students are from Northern California.
Treasure Island sits on 42 acres in the middle of San Francisco Bay. It is located on the former site of the World’s Fair and provides great views, moderate weather and access to the diverse San Francisco Bay communities, culture, technology, renowned educational institutions and employers. Treasure Island has the largest Urban Garden in Job Corps.
Students can participate in the Student Government Association, peer leadership classes, seasonal sports teams and various student clubs. They also enjoy educational field trips, job site visits and offsite recreational activities such as trips to the pier, Giants games and shopping. Onsite recreational offerings include yoga, baseball, sewing, arts & crafts, a workout room and a recreation room.
Students are active members of the Treasure Island community and share recreation facilities and food services with a veterans’ rehabilitation program, as well as work with island law enforcement, community patrols, provide special event assistance and participate in city-sponsored neighborhood meetings.
